Ruth A. Mathis

Ruth A. Mathis, 75, of Versailles passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at the Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. She was born at Manchester, Kentucky on February 2, 1932 the daughter of Robert and Della Sizemore Lovins. She was married to Raleigh Mathis and he survives. Other survivors include two sons, Wayne Mathis of Versailles and Troy Mathis and his wife Karol of Cross Plains; three daughters Lattie Hon and her husband Danny of Holton, Geneva "Jill" Carr and Paul of Versailles, and Barbara and Don Disbro of Olean; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ben Lovins, Charles Lovins, and Ferris Lovins all of Manchester, Kentucky; one sister Brenda Lovins also of Manchester. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son Ernest Mathis. Mrs. Mathis was a homemaker and enjoyed singing and playing the guitar. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 26 at 10:30am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Sherman Hughes of the Bear Creek Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Hopewell Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5pm to 8pm. Memorials may be given to the donors choice.
