Ruth M. Pollard, 89, of Versailles passed away at 4 p.m., Friday, September 4, 2026 at the Kings Daughters Hospital in Madison. She was born in Shelbyville on July 24, 1937, the daughter of Ira and Mary Roell Weintraut. She was married to Bill Pollard on July 21, 2007 and he survives. Other survivors include one son Brian (Theresa) Eck of Versailles; one daughter Beth Sexton of Madison; three step-sons Bill Jr. (Carol), Rick (Vicky), and Ron Pollard all of Versailles; one step-daughter Regina Pollard of Versailles; 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; two brothers Raymond (Sue) Weintraut of Waldron and Ralph Weintraut of Florida; her sister Judy Schaeffer of Florida and her sister Diane of Columbus. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughters Belinda Eck and Bronda Vierling, granddaughter Courtney Bratton, and her sisters Pauline Smith and Irene Adams. Mrs. Pollard was a 1954 graduate of Waldron High School. Ruth worked for 42 years tending bar at the City Café and Cattlemen’s Club in Greensburg and at Bonaparte’s Retreat in Napoleon. She and Bill enjoyed their 19 years together with their extended family. Ruth was a member of the Versailles American Legion Auxiliary and a former member of the Eagles Lodge in Greensburg. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 11 at 10 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Randy Thieman officiating. Burial will be in the Grandview Memorial Garden near Madison. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Ripley County Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
