Samuel O. Foster

**Samuel O. Foster** was born at Columbia, Kentucky on October 3, 1919, the son of William E. and Lou Burton Foster and departed this life on January 31, 2003 in Louisville. Sam was married to Gladys Peebles on April 22, 1977 and she survives. Other survivors include his sister Maxine and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother William A. Foster, his sisters Anna Burton, Alma Kennedy, Pearlie Alley, and Hattie Cowan. Sam was an Army veteran of WWII where he served in Northern France, the Rhineland, the Ardennes, and in Central Europe. He was a member of the 35 Chemical Decon Co. and was awarded two bronze stars for military valor. Sam was employed by the Ripley County Farm Bureau Co-op where he worked at the Holton Mill. Funeral services will be held Tuesday February 4 at 2pm at the Stratton Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. David Blazier officiating. Visitation will be Monday February 3 from 5pm to 8pm. Masonic services will be Monday at 7:30pm in the funeral home, conducted by the Holton Masonic Lodge of which Sam was a member for 30 years. The Napoleon VFW will conduct military graveside rites Tuesday at the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles. Memorials may be given to the Holton Masonic Lodge.
