Sharon Friend

**Sharon Friend**, 73, of Dabney passed away at 3:55pm, Monday, August 26, 2019 at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. She was born at Clarksburg in Decatur County on June 12, 1946 the daughter of Hiram and Mary Bowman Forbes. She was married to John Friend on December 18, 1963 and her husband of 55 years survives. Other survivors include one brother Tom Forbes of Rushville; one sister Margaret Grimes of Clay City, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters Donna Hittle, Kathy Lewis, and Nina Marie Forbes. Mrs. Friend was a former employee of Wellman Thermal Systems in Shelbyville where she worked in assembly. Sharon had attended the Academy of Dog Grooming in Indianapolis and was the former owner of Fish & Chirps in Osgood. Sharon was a proud and independent person and was always willing to lend a friend a hand. Graveside services for Sharon will be on Thursday, August 29 at 11am at the Stipps Hill Cemetery near Rushville. Memorials may be given to the donor's choice in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles.
