Shirley J. Smith, 70, of Milan
passed away at 7:50am, Sunday, April 12, 2020 at Ripley Crossing
in Milan. She was born at
the Whitlatch Clinic in Milan
on October 31, 1949 the daughter of Floyd and Ruby Herring
Cutter. She was
married to Jerry Smith on November 19, 1972 and he survives.
Other survivors
include two sons Travis (Sarah) Smith of Batesville, and Dustin
Smith of Greensburg; one daughter Amy (Jock) Ralston of
Greensburg;
four grandchildren Allison and Jonathon Ralston, and Jaden and
Jevan Smith; one
sister Judy (Gary)
Stutler of Friendship. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Smith
attended Cross Plains High School
and was in the first graduating class from South Ripley in 1967.
She was a 1970
graduate of the Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in
Cincinnati. Shirley worked as a Registered
Nurse at the Odd Fellows Home in Greensburg,
the Milan Health Care Center, and Terrace View in Lawrenceburg,
retiring in
2015. She was also a full time homemaker, wife, mom, and grandma
(Ma). Shirley was
a lifetime member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church
in Olean. Due to
the health pandemic, Shirley's family was not able to receive
friends at the
time of her death, so a celebration of Shirley's life will be
held on Friday,
October 30
from 5pm to 7pm at the
Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home
in Versailles.
A memorial service will be held at the St. Paul
Lutheran Church
in Olean at
11am on Saturday, October 31
Memorials may be given to the
St. Paul Lutheran
Church or St. Peters Cemetery
in care of the funeral home.
