**Steve Wood**, age 66, longtime resident and farmer in Switzerland County, died at his home on August 11, 2017.
He was born in Camden, New Jersey, first son of the late Eleanor (Orzechowska) Wood and Raymond Wood. Steve and Barbara Jane Tape married in Switzerland County in November 1978. They lived on a farm on Worth Cole Road, where they raised their daughters, Leah (Wood) Walthery and Alice Wood Conovitz. Steve worked as a carpenter on special exhibits at the Cincinnati Museum Center for twenty years. He also farmed and was widely known for his expertise in raising dairy goats; he shared his knowledge through his work in 4-H. He often spoke of his love of the people and place that make up Switzerland County. He is missed by family and friends, including his siblings Anita Murphy, Linda Sheppard, Joanne Mignona, Peter Kevin, Denise Menold, and their families. He was preceded in death by his sister Delores Breitweiser.
He also had great affection for his daughters' families: Leah's husband Lee and their daughters Nellie and Lily of Logansport, IN, and Alice's husband Pete and their daughters Zoey and Rae of Fort Collins, CO. The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date. Support to the family is being provided by Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles.
