Sue Ann Sutherlin

Sue Ann Sutherlin, 80, of Versailles passed away at 4:25 a.m. Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany. She was born at the Whitlatch Clinic in Milan on November 21, 1945, the daughter of Curtis and Sherla Hughes Michael. She was married to Larry Sutherlin on June 10, 1967 and he preceded her in death on June 27, 2023. Survivors include two sons David (Leslie) Sutherlin of Milan and Doug (Loreana) Sutherlin of Floyds Knobs; one daughter Debbie (Andy) Holbrook of Ft. Wayne; 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; one brother Chuck Michael of Macon, Georgia; one sister Nancy Wagner of Hartsville. She was also preceded in death by her parents. Mrs. Sutherlin was a 1963 graduate of Jac-Cen-Del High School. She received her BS degree in nursing from the University of Evansville. Her working career spanned many years where she worked for Dr. Libunao in Versailles, over 30 years as a nurse at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital in North Vernon, and assisting the Jennings County Health Nurse. Sue loved her career in nursing and also enjoyed quilting, canning, baking, and was well known for her chocolate chip cookies and sugar cream pies. Sue was a member of the Versailles Baptist Church for over 70 years where she helped implement the hanging of the greens at Christmas, Vacation Bible School, and the church’s senior dinners. Funeral services will be on Thursday, August 6 at 11 a.m. at the Versailles Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Cantrell officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until time of services Thursday at the church. Memorials may be given to the church in care of the funeral home.
