Tanner Lee Tucker, 17, of Versailles passed away Saturday, August 7, 2010 near Milan as the result of a one vehicle accident. He was born at Columbus on January 13, 1993 the son of Trace and Denise Thompson Tucker.
Survivors include his parents Trace and Denise Tucker of Versailles, his brothers Trent and Ty at home, and his sister Toria at home; grandparents Ray and Marian Tucker of Dabney and Gordon and Doris Lee Thompson of Knoxville, Illinois; aunts and uncles Diane Shea of Decatur, Illinois, Rev. David (Kyle) Thompson of Greensburg, Dana (Carol) Thompson of Elgin, Illinois, Donna (Greg) Mathews of Galesburg, Illinois, Donald (Marcia) Thompson of Elgin, Illinois, Renea (Bill) Kline of Centerville, Ohio, Terry (Karen) Tucker of Indianapolis, Becky (Frank) Eaton and Lynn (Mike) Cumberworth both of Versailles, and Trevor Tucker of Chicago. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Ginny Tucker.
Tanner was to be a senior this year at South Ripley. He had served as class president since the 8th grade and participated on the Raider baseball and basketball teams. He was also a member of the Student Council, Media Tech, and had been a volunteer coach for Special Olympics. He had planned to attend Purdue in the fall of 2011 and study engineering. Tanner was a member of the Versailles Baptist Church and was active in the church youth group.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 12 at 10:30am at the Versailles Baptist Church with Rev. David Thompson and Rev. Mike Cantrel officiating. Burial will be in the Flat Rock Cemetery near Osgood. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3pm to 8pm at the Versailles Baptist Church Family Life Center. Memorials may be given to the donor's choice in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home.
