Truly L. Draut, 94, of Benham passed away Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Ripley Crossing in Milan. She was born near Delaware on October 4, 1918 the daughter of Fred and Margaret Michel Schmidt. She was married to Jennings Draut on June 9, 1945 and he preceded her in death on June 13, 2007. Survivors include nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Lawrence Schmidt and William Schmidt, and her sisters Rhoda Mae Fox, Bertha Heimsath, and Gladys Staeuble.
Mrs. Draut was a 1937 graduate of Delaware-Jackson (Napoleon) High School and attended the Central Beauty College in Indianapolis. She had owned and operated a beauty shop in Napoleon and was also a former employee of the White Pine Restaurant in Versailles. She and Jennings had also operated a lunch room and filling station in Penntown. Truly was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Olean where she had served as the church's librarian. She was also a member of the Benham Home Ec Club and the Ripley County Historical Society.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 4 at 2pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Olean with Pastor Dennis Zimmerman officiating. Burial will be in St. Peters Cemetery, Olean. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1pm until time of services at the church. Memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church or the donor's choice in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home.
