Valerie E. Smith

Valerie E. Smith, 64, of Osgood, passed away Thursday June 29, 2006 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born at Milan on September 4, 1941 the daughter of Robert and Mary Struckman Brewington. She was married to Lawrence "Bud" Smith on August 6, 1965 and he survives. Other survivors include two sons, Larry Smith of Holton and Scott Smith of Moores Hill; three daughters, Sheryl Smith of Osgood, Sherry Smith-Wunar, and Sheila Smith Vega both of Warrenville, Illinois; 7 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Robert Brewington and Tom Brewington both of Milan and Don Brewington of Batesville; one sister, Martha Waldron of Burt Lake, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Dan Brewington, and her sister Mary Ellen Smith. Mrs. Smith was a 1959 graduate of Versailles High School. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, sewing, and cooking. Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 2 at 2pm at the Hopewell Baptist Church with Rev. David Shivers officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 4pm to 7pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorials may be given to the Valerie Smith Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
