Velta I. Benham

**Velta I. Benham, 93, of Versailles** passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at Ripley Crossing in Milan. She was born in Russellville, Ohio on May 15, 1921 the daughter of Carey and Esther Kautz Geeslin. She was married to Carl Benham on February 14, 1947 and he preceded her in death January 16, 1974. Survivors include one son Jerry (Sharon) Benham of Aurora; one daughter Partha (Arthur) Swingle of Versailles; 6 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Carlene Smith, brother Vernon Geeslin, and her sister June Gaskin. Mrs. Benham was a former employee of Thomas' Fashions, IGA, Jahnigen Cleaners, and Mildred Pratt's dress shop, all in Versailles. Velta was a member of the Versailles Eastern Star. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family with Charles Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles. Memorials may be given to the Cliff Hill Cemetery in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home.
