Vinnie M. Black, 70, of Versailles passed away Thursday, June 26, 2008 at the Kings Daughters Hospital in Madison. She was born at Grundy, Virginia on October 2, 1937 the daughter of Luther and Maxie Osborne Mullins. She was married to William "Snapper" Black on August 6, 1955 and he preceded her in death on July 6, 1992. Survivors include three sons, Terry (Linda) Black and Todd Black both of Greensburg, and Tony Black of Versailles; 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; five brothers, Vern Mullins and Frank Mullins both of Grundy, Virginia, Lonzo Mullins of Princeton, West Virginia, Warren Mullins of Bland, Virginia, and Homer Mullins of Bluefield, Virginia; three sisters, June Osborne and Gertrude Osborne both of Grundy, and Hazel Scott of Abington, Virginia. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her son Timothy Black, her brother Hassell Mullins, and one great-granddaughter. Mrs. Black was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church in Osgood. She was a 17 year employee of Hewitt's Versailles Malt Shop and later Lafary's Restaurant. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 30 at 10:30am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles. Visitation will be Sunday from 5pm to 8pm. Memorials may be given to the Bethany Baptist Church, Cliff Hill Cemetery, American Lung Association, or the Jefferson County Hospice in care of the funeral home.
