Virginia (Jinnie) L. Phillippe

Virginia (Jinnie) L. Phillippe, 78, of Versailles passed away Thursday, February 19, 2009 at the Ripley Crossing in Milan. She was born at Liberty in Casey County, Kentucky on March 29, 1930 the daughter of Ebert and Stella Garner Durham. She was married to Jesse Phillippe on April 15, 1949 and he preceded her in death on August 16, 2007. Survivors include one son Jay (Leanna) Phillippe of Versailles; one daughter Rita (George) Speigelhalder of Crothersville; grandchildren Megan (Michael) Hastings of Indianapolis, Jessica (Sean) Holtzclaw of El Paso, Texas, and A.J. Phillippe of Versailles. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers Paris, Paul, Dallon, and Corbert Durham. Mrs. Phillippe was a homemaker and had driven a school bus for the South Ripley Schools for 16 years. She was also a member of the Shelby Christian Church and the Milan Rebekah Lodge. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 23 at 11am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Larry Joe DeWitt of the First Christian Church of Scottsburg officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles. Visitation will be Sunday from 5pm to 8pm. Memorials may be given to the Cliff Hill Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
