Virginia Risk, 56, of Hobart, formerly of Versailles passed away Friday, September 26, 2008 at the Porter Memorial Hospital in Valparaiso. She was born at Milan on March 5, 1952 the daughter of W. Gordon and Louise Batchelor Hughes. She is survived by her mother Mrs. Louise Hughes of Greenwood; daughters Jennifer (Rob) Vawter of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Kimberly (Scott) Funke, and Kaylene Wagner both of Hobart; sisters, Sally (Bobby) Wetzler and Joy (Ken) Cappel both of Versailles, Ethel Snyder of Grandview, Washington, and Dawn (Chris) Kamman of Greenwood. She was preceded in death by her father and an infant brother and sister. Ms. Risk was employed with Resorts Casino in East Chicago as a security guard. She was a 1970 graduate of South Ripley High School and was also a former employee of the Ripley County Area Planning Commission. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 29 at 2pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Burial will be in the Benham Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 12pm until time of services. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
