Virginia M. Shook

Virginia M. Shook, 86, of Osgood passed away Thursday, August 28, 2014 at her home. She was born in the Rush Branch community of Jennings County in what is now the Jefferson Proving Ground on September 30, 1927 the daughter of William and Alvina Jantzen Schonfeld. She was married to Roscoe Shook on November 12, 1948 and he preceded her in death on June 29, 1998. Survivors include three daughters Wanda Shook of Osgood, Libby (Jeff) Updike of Greentown, and Donna (Steve) Shade of Trinity, North Carolina; four grandchildren Tera Beverly of Kokomo, Kimberly Updike of Greentown, and Adam Shade and William Shade both of Trinity; one great-grandson Landon Sweat. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her grandson Barry Beverly, her brother Harry Schonfeld, and her sister Viola Schonfeld. Mrs. Shook was a 1946 graduate of Osgood High School and was a clerical worker for the Jefferson Proving Ground. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 2 at 11am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10am until time of service. Memorials may be given to the Cliff Hill Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
