Virginia Vanosdol, 91, of Benham passed away Thursday, February 11, 2010 at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. She was born on Little Doe Run in Switzerland County on July 14, 1918 the daughter of Edward W. and Pearl Saylor Brooks. She was married to Roscoe Vanosdol on January 14, 1938 and he preceded her in death on December 23, 1986. Survivors include two daughters Joyce Vanosdol of Indianapolis and Janice Vanosdol of Rushville; 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; one brother Jerry (Gleda) Brooks of Benham; two sisters Christine Rainwater of Louisville and Leota Dickerson of Leesburg, Florida. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her son Clyde, great-grandson Tyler Massingale, sister-in-law Norma Brandes, her brother Edward E. Brooks, and sister-in-law Martha Brooks. Mrs. Vanosdol was a 1937 graduate of Versailles High School. She had been employed with Fergusons Store in Versailles and also with the Bovard Funeral Home in Versailles. She was an 80-year member of the Benham United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 15 at 11am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Dale Day officiating. Burial will be in the Benham Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 5pm to 8pm. Memorials may be given to the Benham Cemetery or the Fishes and Loaves food pantry in care of the funeral home.
