Vivian Storie, 86, of Madison passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at the Kings Daughters Hospital in Madison. She was born at Versailles on March 28, 1927 the daughter of Charles and Irene White Demaree. She was married to Charles F. Storie on November 27, 1992 and he survives. Other survivors include one daughter Marilyn Hale of College Corner, Ohio; 2 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; one brother Jack (Betty) Demaree of Versailles; one sister Norma Lee Meacham of Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Charles F. "Sonny" Demaree, James Collinsworth, and Eddie Demaree, and her sisters Opal Collinsworth, Edna Horton, Faye Sloan, and Fern Strimple. Mrs. Storie was a 1945 graduate of Versailles High School and worked for several years in maintenance at the Jefferson Proving Ground. She was instrumental in the establishment of the Senior Centers in Versailles and Madison. Vivian was a member of the Tanglewood Baptist Church and a 67 year member of the Versailles American Legion Auxiliary. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 1 at 11am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Becky Pohle officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery at Versailles. Visitation will be Saturday from 10am until time of services. The Versailles American Legion Auxiliary will conduct services Saturday at 11am at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Cliff Hill Cemetery or the Diabetes Foundation in care of the funeral home.
