Wendell N. Wilson, 79, of South Bend passed away Friday November 15 at the Memorial Hospital in South Bend. Mr. Wilson was born at Versailles, on September 23, 1923 the son of Ralph and Ruth Neil Wilson, both deceased. He was the widower of Lorraine Anderson Wilson. He was a 1942 graduate of Versailles High School and was a graduate of the Butler University School of Pharmacy. He was a Navy veteran of WW II. Mr. Wilson was an independent pharmacist having owned and operated drug stores in South Bend, Portage, Hobart, Niles, Michigan, and Dowagiac, Michigan. He retired from the K Mart Pharmacy.
Survivors include his sons, Scott Wilson of South Bend, Nels Wilson of Cassopolis, Michigan, and Joe Wilson of Grand Rapids, Michigan; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild; sisters Reva McGowen of Indianapolis, Eva Everage of Louisville, and Marjorie Pohle of Leesburg, Florida. He was preceded in death by his brothers Billy and Gene.
Funeral services will be Thursday November 21 at 1pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Michael Hendrix officiating. Calling will be Wednesday from 6pm to 8pm. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Versailles American Legion of which he was a member. Memorials may be given to the Versailles American Legion.
