William R. Franklin, 76, of Holton passed away Thursday, September 2, 2004 at the Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus, Indiana. He was born in the Forest Corner community near Holton on February 7, 1928 the son of Glenn and Josie Stratton Franklin. He was married to Elsie Andress on February 28, 1949 and she survives. Other survivors include two sons Gerald and his wife Lois, Dennis and his wife Dixie all of Holton; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one brother Charles Franklin and his wife Bonnie of Versailles. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Elmer. Mr. Franklin was a 1946 graduate of Holton High School and was an Army veteran of WWII where he served in Guam. He was a farmer and worked as a rural letter carrier for 31 years having retired in 1984. Mr. Franklin was a 65 year member of the Holton Christian Church.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 5 at 2:00pm at the Holton Christian Church with Robert McCreary of the Holton Christian Church and Dale Day of the Versailles Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in the Holton Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, September 4 from 4pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorials may be given to the Holton Cemetery or the Holton Christian Church in care of the funeral home.
