William L. Hankins,
79, of Cross Plains
passed away Sunday, August 1, 2004 at the Thornton Terrace in Hanover. He was born near Canaan on September 7, 1924 the son of William F. and Myrtle Daleglish Hankins. Mr. Hankins was employed for 38 years as a sales clerk for McAlpins in Cincinnati and was a member of the Cross Plains Baptist Church. Survivors include three sisters, Esther Hoffman of Canaan, Freeda Hansmann of Versailles, and Maxine Roberts of Kent along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Mitchell, Loren, and David Hankins, and his sisters Marjorie Mathews, Lela Elston, and Lauretta Fleek.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 4th at 11am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Pete Sinclair of the Cross Plains Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Grandview Memorial Garden near Madison. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 3rd from 5pm to 8pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Cross Plains Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
