Willie "Jay" Watts

**Willie "Jay" Watts**, 74, of Madison passed away Friday, September 22, 2017 at his home. He was born at Hallie in Letcher County, Kentucky on August 23, 1943 the son of Pearl and Cinda Smith Watts. Survivors include two daughters Barbara Schmidt of Versailles and Kathy Lovins of Greensburg; 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; one brother William Watts of Holton; six sisters Juanita (Bob) Adams of Shelbyville, Glenna (Tom) Sunn of LaPorte, Sharon (Bill) Back of Canaan, Christina Wooten of Kentucky, Velma Hamilton of Moorhead, Kentucky, and Sue (Darrell) Gross of Florence, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Fred, Dee, Lawrence, Billy, Bub, and Pearl Jr., and his sisters Vergie Whitaker, Effie Campbell, and Imogene Leach. Mr. Watts was a 38 year employee of Reliance Electric in Madison, retiring in 2001. In his spare time, Willie was an avid fisherman. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 26 at 6pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Visitation will be from 4pm until time of services. Burial will follow at a later date. Memorials may be given to the Jefferson County Animal Shelter in care of the funeral home.
