**Woodrow Vanosdol**, 94, of Holton
passed away Saturday, July 21, 2007 at the
Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. He was born near Dabney on October 4,
1912 the son of Charles and Elnora Ensminger Vanosdol. He was married to
Margaret Miller on July 4, 1975 and she preceded him in death on April 15, 2007.
Survivors include two sons, John Vanosdol and his wife Pal of Knitghtstown and
Wayne Vanosdol and his wife Cindy of Holton; two daughters, Linda Bustle and her
husband Jack of Holton and Brenda Sizemore of Osgood; three step-sons, Robert
Dobbs and his wife Rita of Pulaski, Tennessee, Joe Dobbs of Batesville, and Roy
Dobbs and his wife Kathy of New Marion;
one step-daughter Mary Nealis and her husband Don of Holton;
12 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 9
step-grandchildren, and 8 step-great-grandchildren; one sister Sally Asche of
Hagerstown. He was also preceded in death by his parents, brothers John, Jim,
Ira, and Emil Vanosdol, and his sisters Elizabeth Vanosdol, Audra Palmer, and
Agnes Griffin. Mr. Vansosdol attended the Dabney School and was an Army Veteran
of WWII. He was awarded the American Theatre Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and the
WWII Victory Medal.
He was formerly
employed with Conn Organ and the Indiana State Highway Department. Funeral
services will be held Wednesday, July 25th
at 11:00am
at the Stratton-Karsteter
Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Bob McCreary of the Holton Christian Church
officiating. Burial will be in the Hopewell Cemetery with military graveside
rites by the Versailles American Legion. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5pm to
8pm. Memorials may be given to the Hopewell Cemetery or the Activities Fund of
the Manderley Health Care Center.
